Weekend Library Customer Service Assistant

About the role

Join the vibrant weekend team at Waimakariri Libraries, providing friendly, front‑line service at either the Rangiora or Kaiapoi branch. You will help patrons access digital resources, discover new reads and enjoy community programmes while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere.

Key responsibilities

• Staff the library front desk on Saturday (9:15 am‑2:15 pm) and Sunday (12:45 pm‑4:15 pm).
• Assist visitors with downloading eBooks and using digital devices.
• Guide users through online learning platforms and recommend suitable resources.
• Support the delivery of programmes and events for all ages.
• Maintain the appearance and accessibility of collections and library spaces.

Required profile

• Genuine enthusiasm for helping people from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to work efficiently in a busy, people‑centred environment.
• Quick learner who can adopt new processes and procedures.
• Physical stamina to be on your feet for most of the shift.
• Positive attitude and a friendly, approachable demeanor.
