Water Treatment Technician

About the role

The Water Treatment Technician will be based at the Kapuni Water Treatment Plant and will ensure a reliable supply of safe drinking water to the South Taranaki district. This permanent full‑time position involves operating and maintaining raw water sources, treatment facilities and reservoirs in all weather conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and calibrate water quality sensors and operate control systems.
• Maintain the functionality of pumps, motors and automated valves.
• Support fault diagnosis and repair of electrical components.
• Prepare and execute maintenance programmes for intakes, mains, treatment plants, pumping stations and reservoirs.
• Develop and maintain sampling programmes to meet Drinking Water Standards and Quality Assurance Rules.
• Record and report compliance activities in line with Drinking Water Quality Assurance Rules and Resource Consents.

Required profile

• Willingness to work flexible hours, a minimum of 40 hours per week and participate in an on‑call roster.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Commitment to health, safety and environmental standards.
