Water Engineer & Civil Designer – Hamilton

About the role

You will join a multidisciplinary engineering team in Hamilton, contributing to the planning, modelling and design of water and civil infrastructure projects across the Waikato region. The position offers exposure to stormwater, wastewater, potable water systems and broader civil design work such as subdivisions and infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Support or lead 3‑waters modelling and analysis.
• Deliver design work for water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure.
• Contribute to land‑development and civil design projects (earthworks, drainage, roading).
• Prepare design documentation and coordinate with project teams.
• Attend client and project meetings.
• Collaborate with engineers, planners and surveyors.
• Mentor junior staff (for senior candidates).

Required profile

• Relevant civil engineering or design qualification.
• Strong communication and collaborative approach.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• Junior‑intermediate (2‑4 years) – exposure to 3‑waters or civil infrastructure projects; eagerness to learn.
• Mid‑senior (5+ years) – solid experience in land‑development or infrastructure design; ability to mentor and ensure technical quality.

Required skills

• Civil 3D (or similar design software).
• 12d (advantageous).
• 3‑waters modelling and analysis.
• Design of stormwater, wastewater and potable water systems.
• Land‑development design (earthworks, drainage, roading).
