Vegetable Farm Intern – Kahuku, Hawaii

About the role

This full‑time internship offers hands‑on experience on a 100‑acre family‑run farm in Kahuku, Hawaii. You will work across all stages of vegetable production, from planting to market, while learning sustainable farming practices and basic business operations.

Key responsibilities

• Handle inventory, operate farm machinery, and maintain equipment.
• Plant, fertilize, harvest, and compost a variety of crops including cherry tomatoes, Japanese cucumbers, eggplants, okra, leafy greens, root vegetables and herbs.
• Identify weeds, insects and apply pest‑management techniques.
• Collect and record farm data for crop performance and quality monitoring.
• Participate in pickling, canning, packing and preserving products for distribution.
• Rotate through departments to gain exposure to marketing, budgeting, sales, delivery logistics and customer communication.
• Evaluate fruit and vegetable maturity and learn varietal characteristics.

Required profile

• Strong interest in agriculture, horticulture or sustainable food production.
• Willingness to work 40–60 hours per week on site.
• Ability to live in shared housing and adhere to farm safety standards.
• Basic literacy for data recording and communication with customers.

Required skills

• No specific technical skills required; training will be provided on all farm processes.

• Hourly wage of $12.00.
• Shared bedroom accommodation for a $125 monthly maintenance fee.
• $500 refundable deposit at move‑in.
