UX/UI Design Intern

About the role

Join Trimble’s high‑impact team in Christchurch and help shape the digital interfaces that control massive excavators and cutting‑edge automation technology. This 12‑week paid internship offers hands‑on experience designing icons, illustrations, and technical diagrams for real‑world heavy‑machinery control systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design and iterate high‑quality icons and digital illustrations for machine control interfaces.
• Collaborate with the UX team to streamline visual design processes and reduce technical debt.
• Update complex technical diagrams to reflect new hardware and sensor integrations.
• Maintain design system integrity using Figma, Adobe XD, and Illustrator.
• Manage design assets through Git and GitHub version‑control workflows.

Required profile

• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Basic understanding of design processes, visual hierarchy, and user‑centered design principles.
• Interest in construction technology, heavy machinery, or related fields.
