Transport Contractors Manager

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Network Operations, the Transport Contractors Manager is responsible for building and maintaining strong partnerships with NZ Post's transport contractors. The role ensures that all road transport activities meet the highest standards of safety, service quality, and budgetary performance.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure all transport contractors comply with NZ Post’s Safety & Wellbeing requirements, maintaining incident records and contractor documentation.
• Participate in safety and accident investigations, working to minimise hazards.
• Develop and sustain positive, professional relationships with transport contractors.
• Monitor transport compliance, manage non‑compliance issues, and achieve transport KPI targets.
• Oversee invoicing processes, maintain accurate records, issue new schedules and ensure schedule changes are correctly paid.

Required profile

• Background in logistics, transport or supply chain management.
• Experience in a support, relationship‑management or office role handling suppliers or contractors.
• Previous work in the transport or freight industry.
• Familiarity with invoicing, accounts or finance processes.
• Working knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation and practices.
• Strong influencing, negotiating and analytical abilities.
• Ability to learn new software quickly.
