Transport and Yard Support – Porirua

About the role

This position provides on‑site support for the Yard, Wash Bay and Workshop teams at HireWays Porirua, ensuring that machinery and equipment are delivered promptly, safely, and maintained to a high standard.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver a variety of machinery and equipment to customers, planning routes for efficiency.
• Operate a Ute for small deliveries while complying with road and site regulations.
• Maintain daily log books and pre‑start checks, forwarding reports to the Depot Manager.
• Assist the yard team with off‑hiring, cleaning, and preparing equipment for rental.
• Organise rental‑ready equipment, manage drop‑off/pick‑up zones, and support the wash bay as needed.
• Perform basic repairs and maintenance on small machines to relieve pressure on the mechanical team.
• Conduct vehicle inspections and ensure Certificates of Fitness for class 2‑4 vehicles.
• Carry out daily forklift checks and keep yard and wash bay areas clean and tidy.

Required profile

• Valid driver’s licence with ability to operate a Ute and class 2‑4 vehicles.
• Experience in delivering equipment and planning efficient routes.
• Ability to perform basic mechanical repairs and routine vehicle inspections.
• Attention to safety, road rules, and site procedures.
• Willingness to maintain accurate log books and support yard cleanliness.
