Telephone Operator – Orthopedic Practice

About the role

We are seeking a professional, compassionate Telephone Operator to be the first point of contact for patients at our growing orthopedic sub‑specialty practice. The role involves handling a high volume of calls, directing patients to the right departments, and supporting appointment scheduling while maintaining a patient‑first attitude.

Key responsibilities

• Answer incoming calls promptly, courteously, and route them to the appropriate staff or department.
• Provide patients with information on appointments, office locations, hours, and practice policies.
• Verify and update patient demographics in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
• Follow protocols for urgent calls and escalate medical concerns to clinical staff as needed.
• Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Resolve routine patient issues and document interactions accurately.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of customer‑service experience, preferably in a medical or healthcare setting.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong telephone etiquette, multitasking ability, and attention to detail.
• Professionalism, dependability, and a patient‑centered attitude.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience using electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
