Technology Support Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a Technology Support Specialist to join the Digital team at Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency in Wellington. The role provides high‑quality, proactive IT support to staff across the organisation, including senior management and Board members, while contributing to continuous improvement of our service desk.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical support via phone, Microsoft Teams and face‑to‑face, ensuring timely resolution of incidents.
• Troubleshoot and resolve end‑user hardware issues.
• Log, manage and resolve request and incident tickets in ServiceNow within agreed service levels.
• Maintain and improve support documentation and processes.
• Collaborate with other technical teams to provide a seamless support experience.
• Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, supporting Agile delivery across the Technology group.
• Travel to regional offices as required and work flexible hours between 6 am and 6 pm.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a service‑desk environment.
• Strong IT diagnostics and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
• Resilient, self‑driven and customer‑focused.
• Willingness to learn and promote Te Ao Māori, tikanga, Te Reo Māori and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
