Team Leader, Architecture & Engineering

About the role

Lead a specialist team at the Ministry of Justice responsible for identity, cybersecurity and network services that underpin critical government operations. Based in Wellington, you will guide a group of around five architects and engineers, ensuring high performance and operational excellence in a fast‑moving digital environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a multidisciplinary team of architects and engineers across network, identity and cybersecurity domains.
• Coordinate network incident response and problem‑management activities.
• Develop and enforce consistent processes and operational practices.
• Act as the escalation point for internal and external stakeholders.
• Build capability and performance within the team.

Required profile

• People‑focused leader with a track record of developing high‑performing teams.
• Calm and decisive under pressure, able to drive consistency and operational excellence.
• Pragmatic, outcomes‑oriented approach.
• Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application.
• Leadership and coordination skills are primary; technical expertise will be supported by senior specialists.
