Teaching Technician

About the role

The University of Auckland is seeking a proactive, technically skilled, and student‑focused Teaching Technician to join the Faculty of Engineering technical support team. In this hands‑on position you will help deliver high‑quality laboratory and workshop experiences that enable engineering students to develop practical skills.

Key responsibilities

• Support the set‑up, operation and maintenance of teaching laboratories and engineering workshops.
• Assist academic staff and students during practical teaching activities and laboratory sessions.
• Provide technical advice and troubleshooting for a range of engineering equipment and systems.
• Maintain workshop tools, equipment and laboratory resources to ensure safe, effective operation.
• Support health and safety processes and ensure compliance in lab and workshop environments.
• Assist with fabrication, design, manufacturing and technical preparation activities as required.
• Monitor and maintain stock, equipment and consumables.
• Contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives across teaching laboratories and technical services.

What we offer

• Full‑time permanent contract (37.5 hours per week).
• Salary range $63,600 – $79,300 per annum (NZD).
