Teacher Aide (Kaiako Tautāwhi) – Part‑time, 10 hrs/week

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Teacher Aide (Kaiako Tautāwhi) to join Central Kids in Ōtorohanga. The role provides 10 permanent hours per week, Monday‑Friday 11:30 am‑1:30 pm, covering lunch breaks and supporting teachers and families.

Key responsibilities

• Assist classroom teachers in delivering the early childhood curriculum.
• Provide lunch‑break cover for staff and ensure children’s safety.
• Support tamariki and whānau to achieve their full potential.
• Promote Te Ao Māori, Te Reo Māori and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
• Participate in team meetings and professional development activities.

Required profile

• Passion for working with and advocating for children.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility and adaptability to changing classroom needs.
• Understanding of Tiriti‑based partnerships with tamariki and whānau.
• Commitment to Māori culture, Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Te Reo Māori.
• Legal entitlement to work in New Zealand.
