Systems Design Engineer

About the role

SYOS is seeking a Systems Design Engineer to shape the architecture, integration, and validation of cutting‑edge autonomous vehicles for air, land, and sea. You will translate stakeholder needs into clear system designs and ensure reliable performance across all domains.

Key responsibilities

• Gather, analyse, and document functional and non‑functional system requirements with stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain system architecture, defining major subsystems and interfaces.
• Create and manage Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for seamless subsystem communication.
• Plan and coordinate hardware‑software integration into unified, reliable systems.
• Design and execute testing strategies, verify performance, and validate requirements.
• Analyse test results, identify root causes, and collaborate to resolve issues.
• Act as a communication hub between engineering teams to ensure system‑wide coherence.
• Feed test and performance insights back into continuous design improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Aerospace, Electronics, Computer Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of systems engineering experience, preferably in aerospace, robotics or autonomous systems.
• Strong understanding of systems architecture, requirements management and integration.
• Experience with JIRA, Confluence and DOORS.
• Familiarity with hardware and software testing and validation methodologies.
• Excellent communication, collaboration and problem‑solving abilities.
