About the role
Join the Central Otago District Council swim school team as a Swim Teacher, delivering high‑quality, safe and engaging swimming lessons to learners of all ages. You will play a key part in promoting water safety and aquatic education within the local community.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver learn‑to‑swim lessons for infants, children, teens and adults.
- Plan and execute lessons in line with the swim school curriculum, tracking progress and adjusting instruction as needed.
- Maintain accurate lesson records, student progress updates and attendance logs.
- Build positive relationships with students, parents and caregivers through clear communication and excellent customer service.
- Collaborate with the Swim School Manager and aquatics team, ensuring current qualifications and best‑practice teaching standards are upheld.
Required profile
- Current New Zealand Swim Teaching Qualification (or equivalent) with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Proven experience teaching swimming across a range of ages and abilities.
- Strong communication and customer‑service skills.
- Confidence managing classes and adapting lessons to diverse skill levels.
- Positive, team‑focused attitude, good organisational skills and basic computer literacy.
