Surfacing Department Manager

About the role

Fulton Hogan is seeking a Surfacing Department Manager to lead its surfacing programme in Gisborne. You will own planning, delivery and financial performance of surfacing works while championing safety, quality and strong client relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Surfacing Department with clear health‑and‑safety expectations and a safety‑first mindset.
• Plan, programme and deliver surfacing projects for key clients and external customers across Gisborne.
• Coordinate site crews, plant, materials and subcontractors to keep work moving safely, on time and to a high standard.
• Oversee project planning, resource coordination, reporting, claims management and programme performance.
• Build a team culture that values direct communication, supports people and delivers quality work the first time.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Civil Engineering or equivalent from a recognised tertiary institution.
• Class 1 driver licence (WTR preferred).
• Minimum 5 years experience in civil construction and 2 years in a similar management role.
• Strong commercial, financial and operational acumen with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Practical, proactive and team‑focused leadership style centred on safety, respect and quality.
