Support Worker – Community Support for Adults with Intellectual Disabilities

About the role

As a Support Worker you will empower adults with intellectual disabilities to build confidence, develop independence and achieve personal goals. You will work across Horowhenua, Kapiti and Mana, providing 24/7 community support that makes a real difference each day.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist clients in learning new skills, connecting with their community and pursuing employment or personal interests.
  • Provide physical support and assistance with daily activities as needed.
  • Use computers and tablets to record support plans and communicate with the team.
  • Adapt to a variety of shift patterns, including daytime, evening, overnight and weekend hours.

Required profile

  • Strong desire to work in the disability sector with a positive attitude.
  • Willingness to learn and complete full training and orientation.
  • Physical fitness to provide necessary support.
  • Full NZ driver’s licence and ability to travel between service locations.

Required skills

  • Basic computer literacy and proficiency with tablets.
  • Effective written and verbal communication.
