Support Software Developer – Hybrid – Wellington

About the role

As a Support Software Developer at Octave, you will help public‑safety customers transition to cloud‑based technology while maintaining and enhancing the software that powers critical operations. The role blends project work, support tickets and occasional urgent incidents, and requires a disciplined engineering mindset to deliver quality at every stage.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and improve .NET‑based desktop and web applications supporting public‑safety workflows.
• Provide technical support to customers, troubleshoot incidents and resolve urgent issues.
• Collaborate with product, third‑party providers and global technical teams to deliver practical solutions.
• Participate in full‑stack development, including front‑end work with React or Angular and back‑end API services.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation and unit‑testing initiatives.
• Balance competing priorities from multiple stakeholders while ensuring high‑quality outcomes.

Required skills

• Microsoft .NET development for desktop and/or web applications.
• Full‑stack web development using React, Angular or similar JavaScript frameworks.
• Experience with mapping libraries such as Leaflet or OpenLayers (a plus).
• Design and implementation of web service APIs.
• Working with relational databases – Oracle, SQL Server or equivalents.
• Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation.
• Unit‑testing frameworks and test‑driven development practices.
