Support Services Assistant

About the role
We are seeking energetic Support Services Assistants to join the housekeeping team at Mercy Hospital Dunedin. The role is permanent, full‑time (40 hours per week) on a rotating roster and focuses on maintaining the hospital’s high cleaning and hygiene standards.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain cleaning and hygiene standards in the assigned area in line with hospital policies.
- Collect, transfer and dispose of hospital waste following best‑practice procedures.
- Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies to ensure availability.
- Provide fresh linen to patients as required.
- Assist with the safe transport of patients when needed.
Required profile
- Previous experience in a similar role is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Team‑player with a professional, positive attitude.
- Enthusiastic, proactive and flexible.
