Student Support Senior Technician

About the role

The Student Support Senior Technician joins AUT's ICT Services team to provide first‑line technical assistance to students and staff across three campuses. This permanent, full‑time position is based at the City Campus and combines hands‑on support with leadership of casual technicians.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the technical escalation point for the Student Support team.
• Mentor, coordinate and roster casual technicians.
• Deliver first‑level support for Windows and Mac devices, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, printing services, audio‑visual equipment and classroom technology.
• Manage end‑to‑end delivery of the Digital Equity Service, ensuring students have access to required technology and connectivity.
• Provide face‑to‑face, online and phone support, taking incidents through to resolution.
• Collaborate with ICT colleagues, faculty staff, vendors and university stakeholders to improve services.

Required profile

• Proven experience in technical support within a higher‑education or large‑organisation environment.
• Strong customer‑service orientation and ability to mentor junior staff.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams.
