Student Accommodation Night Support

About the role

We are looking for a reliable individual to join the University of Auckland’s student accommodation team as a Night Support Officer. The role involves working rostered night shifts in on‑site student residences, helping to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for students who call the accommodation their home.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor residence facilities throughout the night to ensure safety and security.
• Respond promptly to student enquiries, incidents, or emergencies.
• Conduct routine checks of common areas, fire safety equipment, and access points.
• Document incidents and hand over relevant information to day‑time staff.
• Promote a supportive community atmosphere during night hours.

Required profile

• Strong sense of responsibility and reliability for night‑time work.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with a diverse student population.
• Basic understanding of health and safety procedures.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
