Strategic Platforms Manager

About the role

IAG, the largest general insurance group in Australia and New Zealand, is looking for a Strategic Platforms Manager to lead the platforms that will power its future state environment. The role drives modernisation initiatives that strengthen capability, simplify technology landscapes and deliver business value, working across large and evolving teams. It is a permanent full-time position based in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive the vision, roadmap and investment strategy for strategic platforms aligned to business growth and transformation goals.
• Lead platform modernisation and uplift initiatives that improve capability and simplify technology environments.
• Build and lead high-performing teams, developing internal capability in AI and engineering practices.
• Partner with senior stakeholders, vendors and technology teams to shape future platform requirements.
• Oversee major programs and platform evolution, keeping solutions scalable, secure and fit for future needs.
• Guide investment prioritisation, governance and portfolio performance.

Required profile

• Experience leading large-scale technology transformation or modernisation programs.
• Strong people leadership skills focused on building capability and engagement.
• Confidence navigating ambiguity and influencing senior stakeholders and managing complex partner relationships.
• Commercial and vendor management experience.

Required skills

• Knowledge of software delivery and agile ways of working.
• Curiosity about the fast-changing technical landscape, including AI and engineering practices.
