Sterile Services Technician

About the role

Join the Sterile Services team at Southern Cross North Harbour Hospital and become the essential link that ensures every surgical instrument is safe, clean and ready for use. In this hands‑on position you will manage the complete sterilisation workflow, supporting a high‑volume, multi‑specialty operating suite.

Key responsibilities

• Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, pack and sterilise reusable surgical instruments.
• Maintain strict compliance with infection‑prevention and quality‑system standards.
• Operate and troubleshoot sterilisation and reprocessing equipment.
• Track instrument sets through the CSSD cycle and distribute them to theatres on schedule.
• Participate in continuous‑improvement initiatives and audit activities.

Required profile

• NZ Certificate in Sterilisation Level 4 (or equivalent).
• Proven experience working in a Sterile Services / CSSD environment.
• Interest in or experience of leadership and team development.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure.
• Positive, collaborative attitude.

Required skills

• Operation of sterilisation and reprocessing equipment.
• Medical device reprocessing knowledge.
• Infection‑prevention standards and compliance.
• Familiarity with AS 5369:2023 (or willingness to learn).
• Proficient use of MS Windows computer systems.
