Staff Specialist - Cardiology

About the role

The Department of Health is hiring a Staff Specialist in Cardiology to deliver high‑quality specialist services at Launceston General Hospital. Reporting to the Clinical Director, you will work across inpatient, outpatient and procedural settings, providing comprehensive cardiac care to patients in Tasmania’s north and north‑west.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive cardiology assessment, diagnosis and management for admitted and referred patients.
• Perform and interpret a broad range of cardiac investigations and interventional procedures within your scope of practice.
• Contribute to after‑hours on‑call rosters and respond to acute cardiac events.
• Provide clinical supervision and education to junior medical staff, registrars and students.

Required profile

• Qualified cardiologist registered to practice in Australia.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership in a specialist cardiac service.
• Willingness to participate in on‑call duties and acute cardiac response.

Required skills

• Cardiac investigations (e.g., echocardiography, stress testing).
• Interventional cardiac procedures.
