Sports Centre Duty Manager

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Duty Manager to oversee the day‑to‑day operations of a busy sports centre in Wellington, Somerset. The role focuses on Front of House management and driving membership sales while ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for members and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Support daily centre operations, including health and safety compliance.
• Lead and motivate a diverse team, fostering a culture aligned with company values.
• Maintain high customer service standards and drive membership sales.
• Manage cost control and maximise income across all business areas.
• Oversee Front of House activities and ensure smooth member experiences.
• Ensure timely completion of tasks and meet operational deadlines.

Required profile

• Experience in leisure or sports centre operations, ideally with Front of House and sales exposure.
• Strong leadership and team‑building abilities.
• Excellent verbal, written and IT communication skills.
• Commitment to achieving National Pool Lifeguard, First Aid at Work and Pool Plant Operator qualifications within a set timescale if not already held.
• Willingness to work days, evenings, weekends, public holidays and undergo a DBS check.
