Software Test Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on QA Automation Engineer to join our growing team on the North Shore of Auckland. You will help expand our automated test coverage for a SaaS product suite, working closely with developers, product owners and DevOps to improve release confidence.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain automated tests using Playwright, extending coverage where it adds the most value.
• Investigate flaky test failures, diagnose root causes and enhance the reliability of the test suite.
• Collaborate with software engineers, product managers and DevOps to embed testing early in the development lifecycle.
• Perform exploratory and targeted manual testing to uncover issues not captured by automation.
• Document defects clearly, reproduce them and work with developers to achieve resolution.
• Contribute to test strategy, acceptance criteria and continuous improvement of tooling and processes.

Required profile

• Proven experience in both manual and automated testing of web applications.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot complex test failures.
• Excellent written and spoken English for effective communication within an agile team.
• Ability to work onsite in Auckland and collaborate across cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• Playwright (preferred) or Selenium, XUnit.
• CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins or similar) and source control with GitHub.
• Jira, Confluence and Figma for documentation and design reference.
• Scripting/programming languages (e.g., JavaScript, TypeScript, Python).
• SQL and database validation.
• API testing tools.
• Performance testing tools such as JMeter or LoadRunner (bonus).
• Agile/Scrum methodology.
• Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook).
