Software Engineer – Personal Tech CSP Team

About the role

As a Software Engineer in ANZ’s Personal Tech CSP team, you will design and deliver customer‑focused banking features using modern technologies. The role is permanent, full‑time and based in Wellington or Auckland.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership while remaining hands‑on with development, testing and business analysis.
• Accelerate delivery by reducing technical debt, improving platform health and increasing feature velocity.
• Design solutions and set architectural direction for microservice‑based systems.
• Collaborate with Product Owners and Business Analysts to translate requirements into elegant designs.
• Automate and simplify build, test and deployment pipelines.
• Mentor and coach less‑experienced team members and foster a learning culture.

Required profile

• Proven senior technical leadership in commercial software development, especially with Java microservices and APIs.
• Experience refactoring large monolithic and microservice Java codebases (Java 17+, Spring Boot).
• Hands‑on knowledge of solution architecture, event‑driven systems and scalable API integration.
• Strong understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines and container platforms (Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes).
• Track record of supporting production environments and working with offshore teams across time zones.
• Collaborative mindset, open communication and adaptability.
