Software Engineer II – Data Engineering

About the role

Rocket Lab is seeking a Software Engineer II focused on Data Engineering to join its Auckland team. You will help build and operate core data services that support engineering, manufacturing, operations, and research & development across the company.

Key responsibilities

• Develop APIs, services, and tools for data indexing, retrieval, visualization, and automation.
• Build and maintain data pipelines for engineering, reporting, and operational use.
• Create new software and tooling to support data management and exploitation.
• Maintain and improve existing software products with strong testing and documentation.
• Participate in code reviews, architecture design, requirements development, and backlog refinement.
• Keep work tickets current and communicate progress clearly to stakeholders.
• Demonstrate software to internal teams and coordinate cross‑functionally.
• Deploy and support operational software in production environments.
• Train and support internal users of data engineering tools and services.

Required profile

• Proactive, collaborative, and technically strong mindset.
• Motivation to solve complex engineering challenges.
• Diploma, certificate, or degree in Software Engineering or a related field.
