Software Engineer II – Data Engineering

About the role

Rocket Lab is seeking a Software Engineer II – Data Engineering to join its Auckland team. In this role you will build and operate the data services that power engineering, manufacturing, operations and research across the company.

Key responsibilities

• Develop APIs, services and tools for data indexing, retrieval, visualization and automation.
• Build and maintain data pipelines supporting engineering, reporting and operational use.
• Design and implement new software and tooling for data management and exploitation.
• Maintain and improve existing software products with strong testing and documentation.
• Participate in code reviews, architecture design, requirements development and backlog refinement.
• Keep work tickets current and communicate progress clearly to stakeholders.
• Demonstrate software to internal teams and coordinate cross‑functionally.
• Deploy and support operational software in production environments.
• Train and support internal users of data engineering tools and services.

Required profile

• Proactive, collaborative and technically strong.
• Motivated by solving complex engineering challenges.
• Diploma, certificate or degree in a relevant technical field.
