Software Engineer II – Data Engineering

About the role

Rocket Lab is seeking a Software Engineer II focused on Data Engineering to join its Auckland team. In this role you will design, build, and operate core data services that power engineering, manufacturing, operations, and R&D across the company. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to turn raw data into actionable insights that support ambitious space missions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop APIs, services, and tools that support data indexing, retrieval, visualization, and automation across the company.
• Build and maintain robust data pipelines for engineering, reporting, and operational use.
• Create new software and tooling to improve data management and exploitation.
• Maintain and enhance existing software products with strong testing and documentation.
• Participate in code reviews, architecture design, requirements development, and backlog refinement.
• Deploy and support operational software in production environments.
• Train and support internal users of data engineering tools and services.
