Social Navigator

About the role
The Social Navigator will work directly with individuals, whānau and community groups affected by extreme weather events across the Thames‑Coromandel Peninsula. This 12‑month fixed‑term position supports recovery, builds resilience and connects people with the right agencies and services.
Key responsibilities
- Engage with impacted individuals, families and community groups to understand their needs.
- Link people to appropriate support agencies and advocacy services.
- Identify gaps in service provision and contribute to developing solutions.
- Maintain strong relationships with multiple agencies, organisations and community networks.
- Coordinate support, reporting and information sharing across services.
- Travel throughout the district as required, using a provided work vehicle.
Required profile
- Excellent communication and networking abilities.
- Ability to build effective relationships at all levels.
- Knowledge of Te Reo Māori and cultural competency.
- Experience attracting funding and managing diversity.
- Strong report‑writing, data‑collection and public‑information sharing skills.
Required skills
- Project management experience.
- Stakeholder engagement and networking experience.
