Site Reliability Engineering Manager – Reliability Operations & Hygiene

About the role

BNZ is looking for a Site Reliability Engineering Manager to lead the Reliability Operations & Hygiene function within its Technology SRE team. This senior leadership role focuses on improving reliability, reducing toil, and strengthening automation across critical banking services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day leadership for the Reliability Operations & Hygiene team, prioritising workload, coaching staff and removing blockers across incident, change, problem and hygiene activities.
• Lead high‑severity incidents, act as incident commander, manage escalations, communicate with stakeholders and ensure actionable post‑incident follow‑ups.
• Own and improve IT change and problem management disciplines, enhancing risk assessment, reducing change‑related incidents and driving quality root‑cause analysis.
• Monitor service health signals (SLOs, error budgets, incident trends, alert quality, etc.) and translate insights into a prioritized improvement and automation backlog.
• Elevate operational hygiene across services, including incident readiness, runbook quality, monitoring coverage, patching, backup discipline, configuration accuracy and dependency visibility.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in a Site Reliability Engineering or similar reliability‑focused environment.
• Strong track record of managing major incidents, change management and problem resolution.
• Ability to influence cross‑functional teams and drive continuous improvement of reliability processes.
• Excellent communication skills for stakeholder management and incident command.
