Site Reliability Engineer

About the role

As a Site Reliability Engineer within ANZ's Technology team, you will ensure the health and stability of critical cloud services and backup workloads across New Zealand. You will work on production stability, platform releases, quality assurance, and overall ecosystem health while developing and implementing technical improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Support production stability of the C1 global Sky service (up to 50% capacity) within a global operating model.
• Maintain stability of Insto Tech NZ cloud applications such as Sky Robust Backup, Gabor, and BS11, ensuring compliance with NZ technology policies and regulations.
• Collaborate with chapters, Institutional Technology, Managed Service Providers, and Technology Operations to share knowledge and best practices.
• Identify and build automation solutions to reduce manual effort and prevent recurring incidents.
• Engage proactively with business and technology stakeholders for guidance and support.

Required profile

• Strong foundation in software engineering and computer science principles.
• Proficient programming and scripting in at least two languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash, Ruby, Go, JavaScript, HCL).
• Experience building or supporting complex systems and infrastructure as code (Terraform).
• Ability to explain technical problems clearly and communicate solutions to diverse teams.
• Hands‑on incident management experience, including triage, impact assessment, and prioritisation.
• Experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines.
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast‑changing banking environment.
