Simulator Engineer

About the role

Air New Zealand is seeking a Simulator Engineer to keep its world‑class flight simulators and training systems operating at peak performance. You will support a 24/7 training operation, ensuring reliability, availability, and safety for pilot training.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot and rectify simulator and training system faults to minimise downtime.
• Perform preventative maintenance in line with company and regulatory standards.
• Conduct serviceability checks and sign off equipment readiness for uninterrupted training schedules.
• Maintain simulator hardware, electronic systems, and software components for high reliability.
• Deliver system enhancements and upgrades to improve capability and efficiency.
• Document maintenance activities, upgrades and technical findings for compliance and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with colleagues, suppliers and stakeholders to continuously improve systems and processes.

Required profile

• Electrical Service Technician registration.
• Experience in electronic maintenance, including board‑level fault finding and repair.
• Computer hardware and software programming experience.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and deliver high‑quality outcomes.
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to safety and technical standards.
• Experience with simulators, training devices or aviation systems is advantageous but not essential.
