Shipping & Logistics Operator – Tiwai Point

About the role

We are seeking a Shipping & Logistics Operator to support safe and efficient material handling at our Tiwai Point site in Invercargill. The role works on a 12‑hour R2 shift roster (2 days, 2 nights, 4 days off) and involves operating heavy plant, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and contributing to continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Engage and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders across wharf operations.
• Support material handling processes in Torbeds, Bath Plant, Metal Yard and bulk material areas.
• Operate heavy mobile plant such as loaders, excavators, trucks, ship unloader and bath plant.
• Operate additional plant and equipment as required across the department.
• Drive improvement initiatives aligned with team and site priorities.
• Collaborate with other departments to support operational outcomes.

Required profile

• Commitment to personal and team safety.
• Current Class 2 driver licence and forklift licence (Class 3, 4 or 5 advantageous).
• Previous experience operating heavy machinery in an industrial environment.
• Strong communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
• Proactive problem‑solving attitude and ability to work autonomously.
• Good physical fitness to perform manual tasks.
