Shift Supervisor

About the role

We are looking for a Shift Supervisor to join our Timaru production team at McCain. This hands‑on role supports day‑to‑day shift operations and acts as the second‑in‑command to the Shift Manager, stepping in to lead when required.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate people, equipment and resources to meet production targets.
• Serve as 2IC of the shift, leading the team in the Shift Manager’s absence.
• Lead by example on the production line, engaging with team, equipment and processes.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP and other food‑safety standards.
• Support product changeovers and efficient operations with packing and processing teams.
• Capture production activity accurately using SAP and related systems.
• Prepare documentation, reports and administrative tasks for the shift.
• Coach and support team members, fostering a collaborative environment.
• Identify continuous‑improvement opportunities in safety, quality and productivity.

Required profile

• Experience in a manufacturing or production environment (FMCG or food processing preferred).
• Ability to lead or influence others without formal authority.
• Strong commitment to health and safety and willingness to speak up.
• Good understanding of production operations and quality standards.
• Comfortable working with systems and technology.
• Effective communication skills across a diverse workforce.
• Proactive, hands‑on attitude and ability to manage competing priorities.

Required skills

• SAP (experience highly regarded).
• Knowledge of HACCP and GMP standards.
