Shepherd General – Huirimu Farm

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Shepherd General to join our team at Huirimu Station, a 700‑ha sheep and beef breeding and finishing unit near Te Awamutu. This hands‑on position offers daily variety and the chance to develop your skills in a supportive, small‑team environment.

Key responsibilities

• Livestock and pasture management, including animal health monitoring.
• General farm maintenance and fence construction/repair.
• Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
• Promoting a strong health and safety culture across all farm activities.

Required profile

• Passionate about farming and animal welfare.
• Practical, self‑motivated and always looking for process improvements.
• Organised, reliable and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Clear communicator with a proactive approach to health, safety and asset protection.
• Valid restricted or full driver licence.

Required skills

• Livestock management.
• Fencing construction and repair.
• Record‑keeping and use of farm technology.
• Basic vehicle operation.
