Sequence Engineer

About the role

The Sequence Engineer will join the Midlands Control Team to design, build and manage sequence schemes that restore customers on high‑voltage (HV) and extra‑high‑voltage (EHV) networks using the ADMS system. The role is based on‑site in Castle Donington and involves close interaction with outage planning and network safety functions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and edit sequence schemes within the live ADMS system, ensuring HV system security.
• Identify and design SQC schemes by analysing outages in the OMS system.
• Test schemes on the DEV ADMS system and commission them in the live environment.
• Manage scheme amendments, track outage progress and enable/disable schemes promptly.
• Apply APRS schemes where required and verify fault reports for compliance.
• Support outage planning, short‑term working requirements and contingency plans.
• Assist with IIS compliance, audits and technical approval applications.
• Provide ad‑hoc support to internal stakeholders and respond to post‑fault restoration enquiries.

Required profile

• Minimum Level 4/HNC in Engineering or Computer Science with electrical modules, or equivalent Level 3 qualification plus significant relevant experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of electricity distribution networks and their operation.
• Ability to work towards further qualifications and training as required.
• Eligibility for National Security Vetting clearance.

Required skills

• Experience with ADMS/Power‑On/SCADA control systems.
• Familiarity with OMS outage management.
• Knowledge of SQC and APRS scheme development.
• Understanding of HV and EHV network security requirements.
