Senior Web Developer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Web Developer to join the Ministry of Education’s Development Practice team in Wellington Central. You will help scale modern, accessible, and user‑centred web services that support the education sector across New Zealand.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain modern web applications using JavaScript/TypeScript and frameworks such as React or Angular.
• Ensure web applications meet New Zealand Government accessibility and technical standards (e.g., WCAG).
• Collaborate with cross‑functional product and delivery teams to evolve the Education Web platform.
• Provide consultative support and guidance on web best practices.
• Work with enterprise CMS platforms (e.g., Drupal, Silverstripe) and integrate them into delivery pipelines.
• Participate in agile delivery, DevOps processes, version control, and CI/CD pipelines.

Required profile

• Willingness to understand and promote Te Ao Māori, tikanga, Te Reo Māori, and the Treaty of Waitangi in a public‑sector context.
• Ability to adhere to Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.
• Prior experience in New Zealand Government is an advantage but not essential.

What we offer

• Salary range $100,296 – $121,490 per annum plus KiwiSaver
