Senior UX/UI Designer

About the role

Mercury is a bold, future‑focused energy and telecommunications organisation in New Zealand. We are seeking a Senior UX/UI Designer to lead the creation of intuitive, accessible digital experiences across our customer‑facing channels. You will own the end‑to‑end design process – from research and journey mapping through wireframes, prototypes and polished interfaces – collaborating closely with product, technology, content and analytics teams.

Key responsibilities

• Own and lead the design of intuitive, accessible digital experiences across Mercury’s digital platforms.
• Translate customer needs, business objectives, data insights and technical constraints into clear UX/UI direction.
• Conduct cross‑functional research, usability testing and insight‑driven design to uncover problems and opportunities.
• Deliver journey maps, user flows, wireframes, interactive prototypes and detailed interface specifications.
• Maintain and evolve Mercury’s design system, UI frameworks and reusable component library.
• Facilitate workshops, design reviews and stakeholder conversations across product, technology and content teams.
• Use analytics, experimentation and post‑launch feedback to continuously improve digital experiences.

Required profile

• 10+ years of professional UX/UI design experience with a strong portfolio demonstrating end‑to‑end ownership of complex digital products.
• Proven ability to apply research, usability testing, data insights and behavioural feedback to shape design decisions.
• Excellent stakeholder influence and confidence leading workshops and presenting design rationale.
