Senior Test Engineer

About the role

The University of Auckland is seeking a Senior Test Engineer to join its Product Engineering team on a 12‑month fixed‑term basis. Reporting to the Digital Test Manager, you will ensure that digital solutions meet the highest quality and reliability standards across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end QA activities from test initiation through delivery for all applications and solutions developed by the Delivery Team.
• Establish and follow QA best practices and standards.
• Perform functional and non‑functional testing, including API, backend, and integration testing.
• Validate integrations between enterprise platforms such as Workday and other HR/payroll systems.
• Engage throughout the Software Development Lifecycle to confirm deliverables meet business requirements.
• Contribute to test strategy, planning, and test case design.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering high‑quality software in complex, enterprise environments.
• Strong background with HCM systems (e.g., Workday) and payroll platform integrations.
• Comfortable working in large organisations and agile teams.
• Proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous learning.

What we offer

• Full‑time (37.5 hours/week) fixed‑term contract (12 months) with a salary range of $105,701‑$121,900 NZD per year.
