Senior Tax Consultant

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Consultant to join Deloitte’s Tax team in Hamilton, New Zealand. In this role you will work with a diverse portfolio of SME, corporate and high‑net‑worth clients, providing tax compliance and advisory services while developing your technical and managerial capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and grow a portfolio of clients covering a broad range of corporate tax issues.
• Provide advice on tax compliance, planning and risk mitigation, including income tax returns, GST and employment taxes.
• Prepare and review income tax returns and tax provisions for individuals, families and businesses.
• Identify, assess and resolve tax disputes, ensuring statutory deadlines are met.
• Stay up‑to‑date with current and pending NZ tax legislation and its interaction with global tax functions.
• Support the team by applying research techniques and technology tools to improve efficiency and client service.

Required profile

• 3–6 years of experience in a professional services or corporate tax environment.
• A professional qualification in law or accounting (e.g., CA, CPA, LLB).
• Strong understanding of end‑to‑end tax processes and the New Zealand tax environment.
• Ability to build confident relationships with senior client stakeholders.
