Senior Systems Engineer – Linux & Cloud (DIS)

About the role

Tait Communications is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join its Digital & Infrastructure Services (DIS) team. You will design, build and manage robust systems for both internal and external customers, with a strong emphasis on Linux‑based platforms, containerised deployments and hybrid on‑prem/public‑cloud environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain Linux and Windows systems across data‑centre and cloud environments.
• Build and operate container platforms such as Docker, Docker Swarm and Kubernetes.
• Deploy and manage workloads on public clouds (AWS or Azure) and ensure seamless hybrid integration.
• Configure and troubleshoot network switching, routing and firewalls in physical, virtual and cloud layers.
• Automate provisioning and configuration using tools like Ansible, Puppet, Bash and Python.
• Support virtualization technologies (KVM, VMware, Hyper‑V) and enforce modern security practices.
• Produce solution designs and present technical recommendations to stakeholders.

Required profile

• Strong technical background in systems engineering with a passion for solving complex problems.
• Formal tertiary qualification in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Collaborative mindset and ability to work with cross‑functional teams.
