Senior System Engineer

About the role

Digital Genius is a growing Managed Services Provider in New Zealand looking for a Senior System Engineer. You will be the senior technical point of escalation, lead project delivery and act as a trusted advisor to clients, especially as we embed AI capabilities into our services.

Key responsibilities

• Own complex escalations from the helpdesk and resolve advanced technical issues.
• Lead end‑to‑end projects such as cloud and on‑prem migrations, security baseline hardening and fleet‑wide vulnerability management.
• Contribute to AI initiatives, helping clients adopt practical AI tooling securely.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, translating technical realities into clear recommendations.
• Mentor the wider team and raise overall technical capability.

Required profile

• 5+ years in an IT engineering role, preferably within a Managed Service Provider environment.
• Strong client‑facing communication skills and the ability to act as a trusted advisor.
• Genuine interest in AI and its application for SMB IT.
• Positive attitude and sense of humour.
