Senior Solicitor – Corporate & Registries

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Senior Solicitor to join the Corporate and Registries team. You will provide legal advice across MBIE’s 17 regulatory systems, covering governance, integrity and conduct matters that impact the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality, timely legal advice on a broad range of issues including climate change, sustainability, future of work, building, employment, health & safety, occupational regulation and space matters.
• Advise on privacy, official information and information‑sharing matters.
• Collaborate with other in‑house counsel to deliver solutions to complex legal challenges.
• Work autonomously while sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in law and a practising certificate.
• At least 5 years post‑qualification experience, preferably in public law.
• Strong understanding of government mechanisms and regulatory frameworks.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to achieve outcomes in demanding environments and strong relationship‑management capabilities.
• Enthusiastic, proactive and driven.
