Senior Software Engineer (Mobile/Web)

About the role

LIC is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to lead the design and development of its MINDA mobile application while also contributing to web‑based experiences. Reporting to the Technical Lead in the Farm Software stream, you will work on scalable, high‑quality digital products that help New Zealand dairy farmers make smarter decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and deliver the MINDA mobile app using Flutter.
• Contribute to web front‑end features with modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks.
• Make sound technical decisions, manage risks, and support delivery timelines.
• Champion clean architecture, reusable design, and cross‑platform consistency.
• Collaborate closely with product, business, and domain teams to align with roadmaps and technology strategy.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote continuous improvement across the team.

Required profile

• 5+ years of commercial software development experience.
• Strong focus on mobile app development with Flutter.
• Proven track record delivering production‑grade iOS and Android apps.
• Solid front‑end engineering skills (JavaScript/TypeScript, React or similar).
• Deep understanding of mobile architecture patterns such as Clean Architecture and MVVM.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud‑integrated environments.
• Quality‑first mindset with strong testing practices.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
