Senior Software Engineer – Data Science (AI Accuracy) – Contract

About the role

DroneDeploy is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join its AI Accuracy team in Auckland. In this six‑month contract you will own the measurement, analysis, and systematic improvement of LLM‑powered features across the company’s AI products.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain evaluation datasets and pipelines for AI accuracy.
• Develop internal tools for error analysis, audits, and post‑launch monitoring.
• Refine prompts and underlying models from prototype to production.
• Connect ontology and schema design to real‑world accuracy outcomes.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and AI inspection stakeholders.

Required profile

• Strong background in data science and software engineering.
• Experience working with large language models and AI evaluation.
• Ability to prioritize work by impact and take ownership of end‑to‑end workflows.
• Excellent communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.
