Senior Risk Advisor

About the role

This senior position plays a key role in maintaining and strengthening risk and resilience capability across the University of Auckland. You will provide subject‑matter expertise for the university’s risk portfolio, supporting the development and implementation of frameworks, programmes and practices that enable effective risk management.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the ongoing development and implementation of Business Continuity, Enterprise Risk and Incident Management programmes.
• Provide advice and guidance to stakeholders on risk frameworks, registers and mitigation strategies.
• Facilitate risk workshops, training sessions and capability‑building initiatives.
• Support the development of risk reporting, analysis and insights for senior leadership.
• Contribute to resilience planning, incident response coordination and continuous improvement activities.

Required profile

• Confident, well‑rounded risk professional with experience in complex organisations.
• Strong understanding of risk frameworks, reporting and resilience practices.
• Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands‑on delivery.
• Collaborative, proactive approach to building capability and supporting continuous improvement.
