Senior Public Relations Manager

About the role

This full‑time, on‑site position is based in Northcote, Auckland and will lead the development and execution of public‑relations strategies for a diverse client portfolio. The Senior Public Relations Manager will act as a strategic partner to clients, shaping narratives that align with brand goals.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement integrated PR plans, campaigns and narratives across multiple sectors.
• Draft, review and distribute press releases, media kits and other communication materials.
• Manage media outreach, build and maintain relationships with journalists, influencers and key stakeholders.
• Identify and secure story opportunities, partnerships and media placements.
• Oversee campaign timelines, coordinate events, activations and influencer collaborations.
• Contribute to social‑media planning and monitor coverage, performance metrics and reporting.
• Mentor junior team members and support new‑business proposal development.
• Provide strategic counsel and ongoing communication support to clients.

Required profile

• Several years of PR agency or in‑house communications experience, preferably at a senior level.
• Proven track record in media relations, securing high‑quality coverage and managing multiple accounts.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present ideas clearly.
• Experience coordinating events, influencer collaborations, digital PR and social‑media campaigns.
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
