Senior Project Manager – Water

About the role

Stantec’s Water team in New Zealand is looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead complex water‑related infrastructure projects, including drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, groundwater, dams and hydropower. You will join a multidisciplinary group of engineers, contracts managers and consultants to maintain the firm’s strong delivery record.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the planning, design and delivery of large‑scale water infrastructure projects.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and contracts managers to ensure project milestones are met.
• Support bids and proposals, translating client briefs into actionable project scopes.
• Manage financial performance, risk assessment and procurement activities.
• Oversee design‑build, alliancing and programme management engagements.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of engineering or construction project management experience.
• Proven track record delivering complex three‑waters or infrastructure projects.
• Strong organisational, time‑management and financial competency.
• Demonstrated ability to work directly with clients and manage stakeholder expectations.
• Effective communicator who can foster high‑performing team environments.
