Senior Project Manager

About the role

Earth Sciences NZ is looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of multiple high‑impact initiatives that have strong data and digital components. The role requires deep technical delivery expertise, especially in cloud and infrastructure transformation, to guide projects from business case through to closure.

Key responsibilities

• Work with sponsors to define programme and project requirements, scope, and business cases.
• Manage programmes and projects across the full lifecycle, ensuring on‑time, on‑budget delivery that meets specifications.
• Lead internal and external project teams, maintaining accurate controls and reporting.
• Drive organisational change management to support successful technology adoption.
• Support the wider Digital Services & Innovation team as needed.

Required profile

• Axelos PRINCE2 Practitioner, PMI PMP certification, or equivalent proven experience.
• Minimum 10 years recent IT experience managing complex business and technology programmes.
• Extensive experience with both Agile and Waterfall delivery frameworks.
• Proven track record of large‑scale organisational change programmes, preferably cloud and infrastructure transitions.
• Strong commercial experience working with multiple IT vendors.
